A GOOD WORKSHOP FOR: those who know that the essessence of an introductory conversation with the deaf entails discussing common friendships and relationships that you have with each other. Those who want to be able to tell someone in sign that you work with their sister, you've met their brother, you live 3 doors down, etc...
Learn how to sign first-person, demonstrative, objective, and reflexive pronouns in ASL as well as how to use your signing space to include body language, role shifting, and referents. By the end of this workshop you will be able to refer to others when speaking about them.

A GOOD WORKSHOP FOR: Those who want to learn more than just sign vocabulary; those who are curious about how the deaf learn sign, and those who want to understand what makes ASL so different than other foreign languages.
In ASL, the hands are not merely hands, but are tools to assist us in expressing our ideas and concepts. What do you do if you don't know the sign for something? How can you best use your hands to describe an object, an action, or your idea? Learn about 3 types of classifiers and how this knowledge will assist you in increasing your sign language expression skills. By the end of this workshop you will have the knowledge to sign concepts such as a wave crashing into the beach, changing out a lightbulb, mailing a letter, etc...

A GOOD WORKSHOP FOR: those who have looked at a sign language dictionary but simply do not know how to "speak" American Sign Language and those who would like to learn more about conversational ASL.
This workshop covers how to convey questions, declarative and conditional sentences, topicalization, negation, and affirmation of concepts.

A GOOD WORKSHOP FOR: those who have looked at a sign language dictionary but simply do not know how to "speak" American Sign Language; those who do not put their signs together properly; and those who don't know what makes American Sign Language different than simply signing while speaking English .
When signing, which sign comes first? Just as in English, ASL requires that you convey your message in a certain order. We cannot throw words out in random order nor can we sign in random order. This workshop covers types of syntax and when to sign what.
For teens & adults. Meets 4 times per session. $105/person +$25 registration fee. Supplies included.

This session covers food, animal, color signs, loan/lexicalized signs, some classifiers, as well as topicalization, advanced numbering topics, bi-bi approach to learning, and a brief history of Gallaudet.

A GOOD WORKSHOP FOR: Those curious about the deaf community; those who see differences between the hearing and the deaf; those who want or need to understand the deaf community better.
This workshop covers the answers to many questions about deafness that you may have been afraid to ask. How do the deaf learn to sign? Can the deaf appreciate puns and jokes? Do the deaf have accents? How do the deaf yell? Can any deaf speak? How can I interrupt someone who is signing? Are the deaf issued a driver's license? Etc....

A GOOD WORKSHOP FOR: A critical workshop for anyone wanting to learn ASL. Just as learning the alphabet is an initial step to reading English, learning the 5 parts of a sign are initial steps to ASL.
When is a moving considered a sign in sign language? What makes up a sign? Learn the 5 parts to every sign. By the end of this workshop, you will have a method ASL phonology to teach yourself ASL signing vocabulary.

This class uses the same curriculum as California State University (no CEUs available however). You will receive an introduction to ASL and Deaf Culture, fingerspelling, pluralizing, indexing, possession, inflections, negation, suffixes, classifiers, noun-verb pairs, and using facial expressions as well as learn signing vocabulary to introduce yourself, tell about your family/work/where live and how you feel.

Learn how to sign numbers in American Sign Language including, ordinal numbers, money, age, time, fractions, measurements and related sign vocabulary. By the end of this workshop you will know how to sign simple math problems, use number incorporation, and increase your signing vocabulary.

Learn how to sign the alphabet in American Sign Language and how it can quickly increase your signing vocabulary. Learn how to teach yourself and practice the manual alphabet. Learn when fingerspelling is used and how to sign the calendar months, states, and abbreviations. Additionally, learn how to improve your expressive and receptive fingerspelling skills.

A GOOD WORKSHOP FOR: those who are curious about what is involved in learning sign language as well as those who have taken a class/lesson before but were discouraged with the amount of knowledge they were able to put into practice afterward.
Covers types of visual acuity and how they relate to learning sign language as well as manual warm-up exercises to help you improve your fine motor skills needed for signing. At the end of this workshop you will have the resources you need to help build your visual acuity at home, to stretch the hand muscles for better manuevering, and you will receive an introduction to America's third most commonly used language.
