American Sign Language for All Americans
Your preschooler has now developed into a full-fledged elementary student. Along with this development sometimes comes a bit of an ego. Six year olds find it difficult to be wrong, even if they are. And seven year olds tend to be perfectionists. Giving a child small victories is important to the development of their "self" at this age. At ASLasl, educating children is all about success. In fact, American Sign Language is used as a tool to promote academic success. What could be more perfect than that, right?

Starting school is no easy feat. Your young student can be a little tense, especially if he or she must be correct all the time. One way to relieve this tension is to provide ample physical activity. What better way to do than to strike up a simple conversation? If you are not moving in American Sign Language, you are not speaking. This is an excellent way to increase physical activity, build motor skills, social skills, and language skills all at the same time.

Reading, Writing, 'Rithmatic , and Repartee
The first years of school center on literacy, handwriting, numeracy, and social interactions. Because American Sign Language is indeed a language, language skills are doubly reinforced when learning ASL along with English. Because American Sign Language helps to build fine motor skills, penmanship as well as manual dexterity improves. Because American Sign Language is a visual language, analytical and spatial skills are developed early on giving young students a jump start in math. And because American Sign Language is a picturesque language, your shy one won't be shy for long as he or she expresses him/her self among others.
